
Hidden Facts You Need To Know About Squid Game, Their Costumes And What They Mean.

Squid is Game is a popular South Korean thiller that is based on survival. The drama series was created by “Hwang Dong Hyuk” for Netflix. It’s other genres are Horror, Drama and Action.
The show revolves around Children games “Red light, Green light or Tug of war”—Where the losers are evicted and then murdered. Yes, you read that right. It’s participants are shot when they loose the game. The winner of all six games walks away with a whooping sum of $45.6 billion. A tempting prize for contestants who are in massive debts.
Apart from its intriguing premises, the fans are also intrigued by the casting and costumes of all the nine episodes series. Featuring celebrities like Ho Yeon Jung, a top model who appeared on the runway at Channel and Louis Vuitton. The show mainly relies on fashion to send certain messages concerning the characters and the plot.
Most importantly the costume worn by Squid Game characters /contestants and guards were fascinating and can never be forgotten so easily by the viewers. They looked quite casual yet their colors holds a deeper meaning that tells us about the plot twists and turns.
To the players, the Squid Game costume looks like an outfit you can put on to run errands or go to the Theatre. The outfit consists of a “Teal Tracksuit” with each of the contestants number written boldly on it both at the back and front with a pair of “White Slip On Sneakers.”
Unlike the childhood games which results into fun, Squid games result in mass murder. The casual fashion in Squid game is used to create tension. A survival game should be welcomed by a “Military inspired or armor like uniform” but, in place of that, it is replaced with a relaxed outfit that seems out of place for a survival game adding to the thrill of the series.
The colors of the Squid Game costumes serves a goal. The “Teal” signifies peace and rebirth, blending with “the soothing properties of blue with the renewal qualities of green” according to Canva. It’s is described as a “revitalizing and rejuvenating color that means open communication and clarity of thoughts” which we find lacking amongst the contestants through out the series.

guards are not left out. Their Costumes also holds deeper meaning as well. Their “Hooded jumpsuits” seem menacing but the color itself is not. Though hot pink is an energetic and provocative shade but according to Canva again, “Pink generally evokes notions of sensitivity, sweetness and romance.” It’s not a mood for that might be associated with a survival game that could end in mass murder.
Though some viewers got the wrong interpretation of the of the Squid Game guards costume to be red but red symbolizes battle, courage and anger according to Live Science. The “black zippers, belts and masks” are used to emphasize the guards authority and perhaps their depravity as well. Their “black opaque masks are just as intimidating as you’d expect.
The “white circle, triangle or square” on the front of each masks resembles the buttons of a PlayStation controller. The buttons do speak of how the series is one big horrifying game. Each of them represents letters of the Korean alphabet. The “circle” is the letter O, the “triangle” is part of the letter J and the “square” is the letter M “OJM” are the initials for the Korean name of Squid Game “Ojingeo Geim.” The guards as well as the Vips wear these masks to protect themselves and are they are killed if these masks are removed.
